please help!!house training my rottie puppy!?
she is around 3 months old and is the hardest to house train i have ever experienced. i have tried everything i can think of to prevent her from peeing and pooing in her cage and in the bathroom where i have her now. she wont do it during the day while we are around. its only at night when she pees and poos in her area. and the weird thing is that she doesnt seem to mind being in it. she will step in it and lay in it and not really care about it. i take her out about every hour and let her go and give her a treat or reward her when se does her business outside. i have tried making her cage smaller so she cant turn around in it very well. i dont know what else to do please if you have any suggestions please let me know. oh i have asked the vet too and they didnt know what to do cause she is perfectly healthy little girl.
Stop taking her out every hour, that will never teach her anything besides it’s fun to go outside.
Take her out each and ever time she DOES need to go, that way you give going outside a meaning that the pup can understand.
I actually wait until a pup squats and then give it a sharp “no” which will stop them right in the middle of the act and then take them out.
By doing this, it normally takes me less than a week to potty train a puppy.
However puppies just like young children will have accidents, that is just part of being young. It is up to you to prevent the accidents from becoming an habit.
